Four fishermen fined Rs 75,000 for fishing in the sea

A mobile court has fined four fishermen Tk 75,000 for fishing during the 65-day blockade in the Bay of Bengal. The four fishermen, including a trawler, were detained during a raid in the Bay of Bengal led by SI Mahmud, in-charge of Kuakata Naval Police Outpost, from Sunday morning to evening.

At 9 pm on the same day, Kalapara Upazila Fisheries Officer Manoj Kumar Saha in a mobile court gave 30,000 rupees to Masud (30), son of A. Aziz Dalal of Chhota Baishada Union of Rangabali Upazila, 15 thousand rupees to Ibrahim Khalil (25), son of Kabir Padar of Dhankhali Union of Kalapara Upazila Abul Kalam’s son Abdur Rahim (35) was fined Tk 15,000 and Mizan Hawlader, son of Kawsar Hawladar of Char Baliatli area was fined Tk 15,000 and a total of Tk 75,000.

Executive Magistrate and Kalapara Upazila Fisheries Officer Manoj Kumar Saha said the fishermen were fined under Section 3 of the Marine Fisheries Ordinance 1983.
